2025 China-UK Youth Innovation Competition & China International College Students Innovation Competition UK Regional Final Concludes at PHBS UK Campus

On the afternoon of July 10 (local time), the UK Regional Final of the 2025 China-UK Youth Innovation Competition & China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2025) was successfully held at Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) UK Campus, located at Foxcombe Hall in Oxfordshire.


The event was organized by the China International College Students' Innovation Competition Committee and hosted by the Peking University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute and Peking University HSBC Business School. Opening remarks were delivered by Zheng Yingzi, Vice Dean of the Peking University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute; Sir Peter Binyun, President of the China-Britain Business Council; and Han Bing, Deputy Director of the PHBS UK Campus.



A keynote speech titled "China-UK Innovation and Entrepreneurship Trends" was given by Jing Yanguo, Dean of the Business School at the University of Cumbria. The competition brought together judges and guests from institutions including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, J.P. Morgan, Jiangyuan Investment, HSBC UK, Allsee Technologies, and Yingke London Law Firm, along with over 40 faculty and student representatives from Chinese and UK universities. The event was hosted by Li Xinran from the PHBS Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.


During the final round, 11 shortlisted projects from fields such as artificial intelligence, life sciences, and energy materials delivered their pitches. Expert judges evaluated and scored the projects based on personal development, innovation, industrial value, and team collaboration.



After intense competition, the gold award was presented to the University of Cambridge team for their project "Healthspan Biotics – AI-driven Neuroprotective Probiotics." Silver awards went to another Cambridge team for "Decoding Life Sciences: Leading the New Era of Next-Generation Immunometabolic Therapy" and an Imperial College London team for "Hydrogen Core Intelligence – Proton Core Integrated Hydrogen Storage & Energy Release." University College London won a bronze award for "Nanoscale Single-Drop Blood Test for Early-Stage Multi-Disease screening," as did King's College London for their project "Cellular Robotics for Targeted Cancer Therapy."


Additionally, six projects received second-place awards, and 11 were awarded third place.


The UK regional round attracted approximately 500 participants from 127 project teams across more than 40 UK universities. Projects spanned cutting-edge fields such as life health, AI, low-altitude economy, energy materials, and digital healthcare, showcasing the latest achievements of young UK talents in technological innovation and industrial integration.


During the event, representatives from the China-Britain Business Council, Jiangyuan Investment, J.P. Morgan, and HSBC UK held one-on-one sessions with participating teams. The competition is expected to deepen international exchange and cooperation in innovation education, promote multicultural harmony, facilitate China-UK scientific and talent exchange, and help build an open, inclusive global platform for innovation and entrepreneurship.




The competition was also observed by 29 students and faculty members from the first session of the PHBS UK Campus Summer School, who engaged in in-depth discussions with the entrepreneurial teams.
