PHBS-UK

PHBS-UK is the UK Campus of the Peking University HSBC Business School

The two-year programs focus on learning both subject-related knowledge/skills and issues related to China and the UK, and are a great opportunity for students to not only have specialist training and cross-disciplinary coursework, but also a multi-country experience and in-depth cross-cultural exposure.

Students admitted into the UK campus program will study one year on the Boars Hill campus and another year on the Shenzhen campus. Conversely, students who have enrolled on the Shenzhen campus program will also have the opportunity to spend one semester studying at the UK campus.

1898

The Legacy of Peking University (1898 - Present)

Peking University, founded in 1898, is one of China's oldest and most prestigious universities, renowned for its rich academic heritage, innovative research, and commitment to global education. Over its 126-year history, the university has continually evolved, fostering excellence across various disciplines and establishing a global footprint through its international campuses and partnerships.

2017

In February, the Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) signed a contract with The Open University, UK, to acquire the Oxfordshire campus for the PHBS UK Campus.

2018

In March, the Peking University 120th Anniversary Overseas Celebrations and the inauguration of the Peking University UK Campus were held in Oxfordshire, England.

In August, PHBS earned accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

In September, the first cohort of postgraduate students was admitted to the UK Campus.

2019

In March, the University of Cambridge and Peking University signed a memorandum of cooperation, which included collaboration in business education in Shenzhen. In May, PHBS received official accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

In October, PHBS celebrated its 15th anniversary and launched the PKU Financial Review.

In December, a new executive education program in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Judge Business School was launched.

2020

From February onwards, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, PHBS implemented strict prevention and control measures to ensure the continuity and quality of teaching and research. Despite the pandemic, the commencement ceremony was held as scheduled. The faculty, students, staff, and alumni organized a series of donations to support pandemic relief efforts.

2022

In October, PHBS participated in the QS Business Master's Rankings 2023 for the first time. The Master of Finance and the Master of Management programs were ranked 20th and 17th globally, respectively, and both achieved the top rank in Asia.

In November, the Qianhai Institute of China-Britain was established to foster exchanges and cooperation among universities in China and the UK.

2023

In May, PHBS UK celebrated its 5th anniversary and the 125th anniversary of Peking University.

In September, PHBS welcomed its inaugural cohort of 37 postgraduate students in the Master of International Financial Management program, who began their studies at the UK campus.
